Free inquiry subject

Hi folks,

For my free inquiry, I’ve decided to focus on gender stereotypes, especially on younger children. I need to refine the subject, so you’ll hear back from me on this soon.

The interrogation comes from my son. Son is almost two years old, and like any other, likes playing with toys and observe the world around him. My partner and I have done our best to raise him out of gender stereotypes. But regardless, when presented a doll and a car at the toy library, he’ll systematically go for the car or the motorcycle. And what catches his eye most when we’re out on the streets? Dump trucks. Excavators. Big trucks with noisy engines. Why? Is it nature or nurture ? Is it that the majority of boys are genetically programmed to like cars ? These questions are very broad. I will focus on two things:

1/ Is there a consensus on these issues today?

2/ What can I do, as a parent, to provide a stereotype-free education to my son?

See you soon ! I promise, there will be more answers than questions next time (or so I hope).
